A grassroots anti-Communist movement to “Quit the Party” continues in China, with banners appearing during the Mid-Autumn Festival harkening others to take part.
Falun Gong website Minghui.net has posted photos of messages painted or hung during the night of September 13 on power poles, trees and public seats in an unnamed city in northeastern China. The website often withholds details such as location, to preserve the banners as long as possible.
Some of the messages include: “Heaven will eliminate the Communist Party,” “Justice will prevail,” “40 million people have already quit the party,” and “Belief is not a crime, Stop the persecution.”
Another message on top of a stone table says: “Good day fellow villagers, friends and relatives! The Nine Commentaries reveals the Communist Party's true nature. Heaven will eliminate this rotten and corrupt party. Withdraw from the party, withdraw from the Youth League, withdraw from the Young Pioneers and cherish your life! 42 million have already withdrawn! Have you?”
The message refers to the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, an editorial series originally written in Chinese by The Epoch Times in November 2004. The series describe the party's crimes against humanity since it was founded in 1949. The “Quit the Party” movement closely followed, with anonymous Communist Party withdrawals logged by visiting The Epoch Times website, sending them to The Epoch Times via the post or by registering in person at “Quit the CCP service centers” around the world.
The movement is underground in China, with those unable to access official channels posting personal withdrawal messages in public places. Those caught are arrested and often tortured in custody.
Forty-three million withdrawals have been registered to date, with tens of thousands arriving each day.
