6. Withholding and Using Personal Mail

The mail has been a friendly way to send messages relating life events, happiness, care, and hope since ancient times. In the past seven years of persecution, letters to and from each detained practitioner have been used by the authorities as a part of the mental torture and stand as evidence of modern people's moral decline.

Foreword

In July 2003, I walked out of the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp. It marked the end of my two-year-and-four-months hellish ordeal!

Since July 1999, for more than seven years, the Communist regime has employed all of the most evil methods to brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The labor camp is one facility where the persecution is most widespread, most concentrated, most frequent and most ruthless. It is a living hell. Countless Falun Gong practitioners were sent there and held over long periods of time. They are physically tortured and mentally tormented as they are monitored around the clock and brainwashed by various cruel methods. The terror at the labor camp still makes me shudder. The evil Communist regime's officials convey this message via violent brainwashing, "You cannot live your way! You must live as we tell you. You must dump what's in your head and replace it with what we allow you to think. You must replace your belief with the belief we give you!"

I am a resident of Zhuozhou City. I learned about the rape that took place at the Dongchengfang Police Department. I received phone calls from overseas. He Xuejian, a man wearing a police uniform, raped two women Falun Gong practitioners. Liu Jizhi, one of the victims, is of similar age as He Xuejian's mother. He Xuejian's hideous act reminds me of Ren Binghui, the Party secretary for Political and Judiciary Committee in Yihezhuang Township in Zhuozhou City.

The last time Xiaodan Wang saw her red sweater she was watching CNN as her father was sentenced to 16 years in prison. It was Xiaodan’s first glimpse of Zhiwen Wang in over six months, but there was no mistaking her sweater even for a moment. The bright color, a piece of clothing taken from his home hurriedly by family members after police took him from his bed on July 20, 1999, was peeking out from underneath a borrowed jacket.

Mr. Ma Guifeng is a 47-year old Falun Dafa practitioner living in Chengguan Town, Jing County, Hebei Province. He is currently detained in Hebei Province Fourth Prison. His life is now in grave danger. His blood pressure is 240/170. His cardio valve broke and his had fundus arteriolosclerosis. He cannot see or hear. His family requested to have him bail out on medical treatment, but was denied.

Ms. Guo Fenglan, 64, lives in Shuangcheng City. Due to more than three years of persecution while "illegally imprisoned" at Harbin City Women's Prison, her body has become extremely weak and emaciated. Medical examiners stated that she has a brain blood vessel blockage, hypertension and high blood pressure, with a upper index of 200 and a lower index of 180. Despite her condition, prison administrators have still not released her. Recently Ms. Guo has suffered a relapse of edema, causing her belly to become overstretched. She cannot eat and her stools are dry. If she is not released in time, it is very possible that her struggles to have a bowel movement could cause her death. Despite this, the warden and instructor of Harbin Women's Prison still force Ms. Guo Fenglan to sit as usual in a fixed posture for extended periods of time every day.

Mr. Qi Zhengui, 69, lived in Hengshui City, Hebei Province. He used to have many ailments before he started to practice Falun Dafa in 1996, but he recovered soon afterwards. He went to Beijing to clarify the truth after the persecution began, but he was arrested. He was first detained in the North Hengshui City Detention Center and then transferred to the South City Detention Center.

Ms. Li Zhi was a music teacher at the Wujiashan Fourth Middle School in Dongxihu District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. She used to have a lung disease, but after she started practicing Falun Dafa in March 1999, her disease disappeared, and she benefited tremendously in other ways too. When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, her school leaders demanded she write a guarantee statement that she would stop practicing Falun Dafa. Under enormous pressure, Ms. Li Zhi wrote the statement. Later, she very much regretted doing so and went to Beijing to appeal to the central government for justice for Falun Dafa.

Mr. Liu Peng was born on October 26, 1966, and lived in Tianjin City. He began practicing Falun Gong in 1997.
