In May 2008, it was reported that eight Falun Gong practitioners died as a direct result of the persecution. Among them, two were female and three were over 50 years old. All eight victims died between January and May of this year, 2008, with three of the eight deaths occurring in May. The Minghui/Clearwisdom website has revealed that among the 42 confirmed death reports between January and May 2008, thirty-four died within the period of January to May.

The Chinese government has consistently denied the fact that it uses violence in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. However, there is one fact that not even the Chinese government can deny - namely, the massive death rate of Falun Gong practitioners in police custody.

On May 6, mainland attorney Wang Yonghang published an article titled "A Make-Up Law Class for Hu and Wen." The article reads that it is extremely absurd to use "the crime of using an evil cult organization to destroy the law of the country and the implementation of administrative regulations," to arrest, try, sentence, and imprison Falun Gong practitioners.

Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) began to spread throughout the world in May 1992. It revealed the characteristic of the universe, "Zhen-Shan-Ren," and people who began to practice quickly obtained better health while at the same time they strived to become better people. Falun Gong was spreading fast, by word of mouth, from one person to another. On April 25, 1999, after Tianjin police beat and arrested 45 Falun Gong practitioners, more than 10,000 practitioners went to the State Appeals Office near Zhongnanhai (they went to Fuyou Street) in Beijing to peacefully appeal to government officials. The appeal was handled by the premier of the State Council, who met with Falun Gong practitioners, and they reached a common understanding and reasonable resolution. The entire event went peacefully and it was over in the evening.

The 2008 Olympic Games are approaching. Not only has the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) failed to make its promise to improve human rights in China a reality, but has also staged a nationwide, large-scale arrest of Falun Gong practitioners and dissidents. Since the end of 2007 to March 11, 2008, 1,878 Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested. On February 25, 2008 alone, the Communist regime agents arrested nearly one hundred practitioners in the cities of Jinzhou and Chaoyang, Lianoning Province. In Beijing, the regime agents covertly arrested more than one hundred practitioners.

9. Belief cannot be discarded

The third time I was tortured by the "attack team," I stood for exactly 42 days and nights. They said: "This time she must give up."

The wind was chilly during those early winter nights. There was a small building called the visiting hall just southeast across from the dormitory. In the visiting hall, the upper levels are bedrooms and the first floor is the visiting room where detainees and their family members can meet. It can only be used at special times during the month, and it is unoccupied on normal days.
